Safe Online Giving opportunity!

Would you find it helpful to have your offerings debited directly from your bank account as you do other monthly draft? First Lutheran Church now offers Electronic Giving for those of you who wish to have your contributions transferred electronically to the church's account. If you travel, this is particularly helpful in keeping up with your intended offerings. It allows you to avoid having to make up the difference later. Contact the church office for more details or visit our Web site's FAQ downloads [ here ].

You can give a one time gift, or sign up for regular withdrawals, and designate them for the general church offering, Peace & Power TV fund, or the Radio fund.

From Our Lead Pastor

Dear Friends in Christ,
During the month of April we had classes
for new members joining First Lutheran Church. We used three broad themes, fundamental for Christians:
1. Come.
The message of the gospel is that God comes to us in the person of Jesus the Christ. At Christmas we celebrate His coming to be our Savior. When overwhelmed by sin or other troubles we hear the call of the Lord who says: “Come to Me all ye who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28) Come to faith in Jesus. Come to church regularly to keep your relationship with Christ and His people, the church, vital.
2. Serve.
The calling of each Christian is to serve the Lord and to serve others. Referring to Himself Jesus said: “For the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45) God’s Spirit has gifted each of us for service in His church and in His world. We are most fulfilled when we effectively serve with others.
3. Grow.
When a living thing stops growing, it begins to die. To keep ones faith life vital it is necessary to grow. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (II Peter 3:18) We grow spiritually by studying God’s Word and putting faith into practice. I am convincedthat as someone comes sincerely, serves caringly and seeks to grow consistently, in the fellowship of Christ’s church, that person encounters the peace and power God wants us to have. May that be your joyful experience every day!

I am excited about the Minnesota Teen Challenge Choir coming to lead us in Sunday worship on Memorial Day weekend, May 25. These students plan sing for us at all three Sunday services and share their testimonies of how God is at work in their lives, delivering them from addictions to drugs and alcohol. Teen Challenge has been the answer to many a parent’s prayers. We even expect one member of FLC to be among the group. You won’t want to miss them.

Please, offer your fervent prayers for our Youth Director Search process. This is a vital position and the right person has the potential of being a great blessing to many youth and their families.

In the light of His love,
Pastor John Holt
